What is PokéBonk?
PokéBonk (often typed PokeBonk) is a free, unofficial Pokémon fan game you play in a web browser: a 3D survivors-like in which you control a Kanto Pokémon, your attacks fire on their own, and you grow stronger by collecting the candies that defeated enemies drop. It is made by a hobbyist developer who goes by Charcher, opened as a public beta on October 15, 2026, and is played only at pokebonk.com.
How PokéBonk works
You pick a partner Pokémon from your League (the three starters are Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle), a map and a difficulty: Normal, Hard or Nightmare. Attacks fire automatically while you move, jump, slide and aim. Defeated enemies drop candies for experience and Pokédollars, and every level-up offers cards with new attacks, attack upgrades or vitamins for the rest of the run; your Pokémon also evolves mid-run. In Classic mode each zone ends with a guardian you wake at its altar, beating it opens the portal onward, and each map has a shrine with a legendary (Mew in Viridian Forest, Moltres in Rocky Desert). In Survival mode the hordes never stop, a boss arrives every five minutes and Mewtwo appears at minute 45. A run ends when your HP reaches zero unless you carry a Revive. Between runs, Stardust buys permanent upgrades in the Lab, and new Pokémon join your League when you complete their challenge and capture them during a run.
Who it's for, and who should skip it
Good for
- Fans of Megabonk or Vampire Survivors who want the same auto-attack loop with Kanto Pokémon, evolutions and legendaries
- Anyone who wants a game with nothing to buy: there are no ads, in-game purchases or donations
- Short sessions on a phone or PC: guest play needs no sign-up, and a run survives closing the tab
- Controller players: gamepads are supported and every button can be rebound
Skip it if
- Anyone who wants an official Pokémon game. This is an unlicensed fan project, and its developer has promised to take it down within 72 hours if the rights holders ask
- Old or low-power devices. The game needs WebGL, and some players report lag even on strong PCs
- Players looking for co-op right now. Co-op is planned for after Season 2 and is not out yet
- Guests who want to keep progress long term. Guest accounts unused for 60 days are deleted, so make an account if you plan to come back

PokéBonk vs similar games
Megabonk is the game PokéBonk is named after: its developer says PokéBonk is heavily inspired by Megabonk's 3D world and its verticality. Megabonk, by solo developer vedinad, is a paid Windows and Linux game released on September 18, 2025 that sold over a million copies in two weeks. It has original characters and is the more finished game; PokéBonk is free, runs in a browser and adds Kanto Pokémon with evolutions, captures and legendary shrines.
Vampire Survivors (poncle, 1.0 in 2022) made the auto-attack horde genre popular and remains the deeper game, with timed runs and weapon evolutions. PokéBonk keeps the auto-attacks but plays in 3D with jumping, sliding and gliding, and wraps runs in a weekly online season with leaderboards and clans.
PokéSurvivor is a different Pokémon survivors-style fan game that players often mix up with PokéBonk. The two have different developers and different official sites.

PokéBonk FAQ
- Is PokéBonk an official Pokémon game?
- No. PokéBonk is an unofficial, free, non-profit fan game made by a developer called Charcher, and it is not affiliated with Nintendo, The Pokémon Company, Creatures Inc. or GAME FREAK. Because it uses Pokémon without a license, it could disappear: the developer's legal page promises to remove the game within 72 hours if the rights holders ask, without contesting it.
- Where can I play PokéBonk safely?
- Only at pokebonk.com. The developer says the game is not distributed as a download or in app stores and is played only on that site. Copies on other domains are not run by the developer, and some of them ask you to link an email address, which the official game never does. If a PokéBonk site asks for an email or a download, close it.
- Is PokéBonk free?
- Yes, completely. There are no ads, purchases, subscriptions or donations, and the developer pays the server costs out of pocket. That also means nothing can be bought to make you stronger; progress comes only from playing.
- Does PokéBonk work on mobile?
- Yes. It runs in mobile browsers with touch controls: a joystick on the left to move, drag to turn the camera, pinch to zoom and buttons on the right for jump, slide, Ultimate, target lock and interact. Phones get a battery saver by default (30 fps at a lower resolution), but older phones can still struggle because the game is 3D and needs WebGL.
- Do I need an account to play PokéBonk?
- No, you can play as a guest. A full account needs only a trainer name and a password, with no email. Make one if you want to stay: guests do not appear on leaderboards, and guest accounts unused for 60 days are deleted along with their progress.
- Can I play PokéBonk with a controller?
- Yes, since version 0.5.1 on October 17, 2026. The sticks move and turn the camera, A jumps, B slides, X interacts, Y fires your Ultimate and Start pauses, and every button can be rebound in the settings.
- Does PokéBonk have co-op or multiplayer?
- Not yet. The developer's roadmap from October 19, 2026 plans co-op shortly after Season 2. Today the online parts are weekly-season leaderboards, clans of up to 100 players and a friends list.
